The program is intended for individuals who meet the following criteria: You have served in the U.S. military You are a beginner in data analysis and data visualization You have separated from the military. To be eligible, participants need to be separated from the military before beginning the program. See the program application for more details You are currently based in California

Service learning is a type of informal learning. Similar to military training, the learning approach is centered around ‘learning by doing’ where you get practical experience applying taught skills. Service learning specifically focuses on civic engagement opportunities, often partnering with community organizations.

ICTD projects support larger collaborations through the Sage Project (SDSU) and their local community partners. Participants in the program will provide data support, applying their skills in data cleaning, analysis, and visualization. Each collaboration addresses a specific community need identified by the community partner and is subject to change per cohort.

As a participant in this research study, you’ll complete an initial survey the week before your ICTD cohort begins program, a survey at the end of the ICTD program, and survey about 8 weeks after completing the ICTD program. Some participants will be selected for an interview to discuss their experience in the program.

Yes. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate.

Data Elevates does not provide laptops or loaner devices for program participants. To participate in this program, you'll need access to a computer, laptop, or other device capable of running Excel and Tableau.
